Watercolour, approx 5" X 9"
Last fall (2009) I stopped at our friend Jim's place in Buderim for my first week in Aussie. Buderim is a beautiful tropical town on the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane and the vegetation there is always superb. The poinciana trees there have stunning orange-red flowers and filigreed leaves, and they hang over the roads so gracefully (at least until they widen the roads and cut them down, which unfortunately is happening a bit there). I loved how the colours in this painting turned out--sometimes with watercolours it's hard to get those vivid colours showing well, but I think I succeeded here.
