September image for 2010 calendar
A reminder of a wonderful September day whalewatching out of Victoria in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. On the way back in we stopped just off Race Rocks and watched the tide flow so quickly past the island. There are all kinds of sea lions and seals that bask in the suns there and we could certainly smell them!
This is one of an ongoing series of lighthouse paintings I have done. I bet I'll do 20 before I tire of them. Being beside the ocean in some of the most amazing spots, protecting ships and warning them of the dangers of rocky shorelines and deceptive points, providing light in the darkness of storms, are all qualities to be reflected upon while I paint.
